A Teacher is an educator who guides and nurtures children in schools and equips them with knowledge in a variety of topics both academic and practical. Head Teacher of Government Middle School (GMS) in Officers’ Hill, Kohima, Nagaland received the National Award to Teachers, 2022, from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. She comes from Kigwema village and is a graduate of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma. She pursued B.Ed in 2009 and Diploma in Education in 2013 respectively. With a career spanning 18 years, she currently looks after the administration and also teaches Science subjects for classes 5 and 6. She firmly believes that school children should be imparted with life skills and ensures that children in her school are taught to make products both out of degradable and non-biodegradable waste. She also initiated fund-raising activities with the help of her colleagues, parents, guardians, students and the School Management Committee (SMC) with the sole purpose of meeting the needs of the children and her school which earlier had a few kaccha rooms, now has 9 pucca classrooms for all children.
