Dinesh Kumar Sahoo is a sports physiotherapist who has been associated with the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) since 2017. He is primarily responsible for the injury management and physical rehabilitation of various state-level cricket teams under the OCA.
He holds a Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT) from SVNIRTAR (Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research) located in Olatpur, Cuttack. He is based in Cuttack, Odisha, where the OCA is headquartered at the Barabati Stadium complex.
He most recently travelled with the U-23 squad as the team Physio for the Col. C K Nayudu Trophy during the 2024-25 domestic season. He has previously managed the U-16 squad during the Vijay Merchant Trophy.
A sports physiotherapist with 3-5 years of experience and RCI registration can launch a private sports clinic or wellness centre in Bhubaneswar or any major district town in Odisha. Given the complete absence of sports-specific physiotherapy clinics at the district level across the state, a well-positioned clinic can build a client base among school athletes, college sports teams, fitness centres, and weekend sports participants.
Sports physiotherapy offers genuine pathways for people with various physical conditions, and a physiotherapist with lived disability experience has an empathy advantage that cannot be taught. The SAI para-sports division and Paralympic Committee of India actively seek physiotherapists who understand disability from personal experience.
