Amar Mohanty was born in Odisha. He studied at Capital High School in Bhubaneswar and later at Utkal University. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1978, his Master’s in Polymer Chemistry in 1980, and his PhD in Chemistry in 1987.
He is now a professor at the University of Guelph, Canada. He works on making eco-friendly materials from plants, waste, and plastics. He also teaches in the USA and the UK. He has written many research papers, holds several patents, and has received important awards for his work in sustainable materials.
