Raksha Suresh Babariya

Raksha Suresh Babariya got married at the age of 19. After her marriage, her husband left her during her pregnancy, leaving her in trauma. But Raksha stood back for herself and for her child. She started her journey again by enrolling herself in the General Duty Assistant (GDA) course at the Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare in Mumbai.

Despite financial and family difficulties, she completed the programme successfully. Her perseverance paid off when she secured a job as a Patient Care Assistant at Holy Family Hospital in Bandra. With this job, Raksha achieved financial independence and was able to support her family and provide education for her young daughter. Her story highlights how vocational healthcare training can create opportunities for individuals from difficult backgrounds.
