Raju Namdeo Wagh was born and raised in a small village in Nashik. His journey from dreaming of becoming a truck driver to serving as a CRPF officer and securing AIR 871 in UPSC 2024 is a story of determination, growth, and transformation. After qualifying for NIT Nagpur through JEE, he worked as an Assistant Manager at Coal India Limited before joining the Central Reserve Police Force. His first posting was in Bastar, one of India’s most Naxal-affected regions, where he led a team of 150 jawans and helped hoist the Indian flag in areas where it had not been seen for 75 years.
Retired and serving CRPF officers bring exceptional leadership, crisis management, and organisational skills that translate powerfully into civilian enterprises. Many ex-CRPF officers establish private security agencies, detective firms, training academies, or NGOs focused on youth empowerment, disaster relief, and community policing. With access to defence canteen facilities, government housing, and strong professional networks, officer-entrepreneurs are well-placed to build sustainable ventures in the security consulting, logistics, and social sector domains.
