A BSF Tradesman (Constable – Tradesman) is a Group 'C' non-gazetted uniformed employee of the Border Security Force (BSF), India's premier border-guarding paramilitary force under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Tradesmen provide essential technical and support services to BSF personnel in various trades, including cooks, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, barbers, cobblers, tailors, washers, sweepers, and water-carriers. They work in border outposts, camps, and administrative units, ensuring operational readiness of the force along India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

After retiring from the BSF (Border Security Force), a tradesman can use their skills and discipline to become a successful entrepreneur. They can start businesses like restaurants, furniture workshops, electrical/plumbing firms, or professional salons. They can also launch facility management or security agencies. Government support through MUDRA loans and MSME initiatives provides the financial backing and guidance needed to start these ventures.

Candidates with minor correctable conditions
Trade training in ITIs (Cook, Tailor, Electrician, etc.) is accessible to individuals with mild disabilities who can acquire trade skills through practice-based learning.
