Dr. Kota Harinarayana, born in 1943 in Berhampur, Odisha, is a renowned Indian aerospace scientist. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from Banaras Hindu University, followed by a postgraduate degree in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Science and a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He began his professional journey with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and later joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation. As Programme Director of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) project, he played a pivotal role in leading the development of the Tejas fighter jet, a landmark achievement in India’s aerospace history.
